About Mia Maya Design

Mia Maya Design creates timeless, handmade ceramics that are crafted to last for generations. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and individually handcrafted by Mia Maya Christophersen, the creative force behind this one-woman company. Her focus on high-quality craftsmanship ensures that every item, made in small batches, stands out for its attention to detail and unique character.

Production Process

At the heart of Mia Maya Design is Mia's workshop, where she uses traditional techniques such as casting, throwing and hand-painting to create her signature ceramics. All decorated pieces are skillfully decorated with brush-applied glazes, resulting in truly one-of-a-kind products.

Design & Inspiration

Mia Maya’s designs are rooted in functional minimalism with a Scandinavian aesthetic. Her muted clay tones and simple forms offer a distinct look, while the hand-painted glaze patterns bring a nostalgic, graphic touch. Every piece carries a balance between material, form, and decoration, creating an unmistakable visual harmony. The collection is also designed with versatility in mind, allowing different colors, patterns, and shapes to mix and match seamlessly.

Durability & Everyday Use

All Mia Maya Design products are made to be used every day. They are dishwasher- and microwave-safe, making them not only beautiful but also practical for modern life.

Maintenance

The ceramics are fired up to 1260°C, giving them durability and a smooth, soft texture thanks to hand-polished surfaces. While the unglazed surfaces may develop unique marbling or slight variations, these are not defects but a hallmark of the handmade process. To protect these surfaces from stains, you can apply a food-safe oil. Regular cleaning in the dishwasher is recommended, though stubborn stains can be addressed by soaking in warm water with a dishwashing tab, or using a mild bleach or lime remover. For marks left by cutlery, products like "The Pink Stuff" or rinse aid work well. Oil stains can be removed with dish soap and hot water, or, for tougher spots, a paste of baking soda and water. Please note that we do not offer a guarantee against stains or discoloration.
